Publiquei hoje o novo número da Kommandeur. Uma das submissões, de um dos autores regulares da associação, procurava oferecer respostas à pergunta “por que jogamos?” Mark, o autor, mencionou no texto o seu próprio serviço militar, bem como os de seu pai e seu sogro. Ao final do texto, ele incluiu uma breve mensagem “in loving memory of”, seguida dos nomes dos dois.
Quando eu fui diagramar o artigo, resolvi colocar os dois nomes em uma placa de bronze, como muitos veteranos são lembrados nos EUA — e Memorial Day foi na última segunda. Mark ficou comovido com a minha ideia, e me mandou isso:
You honored me and my family! I cannot thank you enough for your magnificent choices in handling my submissions! Placing my two different photos of 50 years apart with the current Open Match List and my submission relating my Vietnam War experiences was genius! And the addition of the plaque around my dad and father-in-law was… I don’t have words to describe how awesome that was. Your editorship has been a wonderful and much needed major improvement over AHIKS’ communication.
